Our Story
Some people build a brand around a product. I built mine around a feeling.
To me, your everyday clothes should feel as smooth and effortless as silk — but made with the same obsessive attention to detail as a piece of fine lace. That's the standard I hold every single item in this shop to, whether it came from an independent designer I discovered in the Los Angeles Fashion District or from my own design studio.
I started Silk & Lace by sourcing from independent designers across the U.S. because I believe in supporting small creators. I still do. But in 2026, I took the next step and launched my own line — because some ideas just need to exist in the world.
When I design my own pieces, I personally vet every factory I work with for fair labor certifications and safe working conditions. Over the years I've built real relationships with my factory representatives — they're like pen-pals to me — and I take genuine pride in knowing exactly who is making your clothes.
I intentionally keep stock levels low and variety high. You won't find mass-produced basics here. You'll find pieces that make you stop scrolling.
That philosophy led to the creation of The Lab — my personal design space where those pen-pal relationships become something tangible. These are original Silk & Lace pieces, designed here and produced in tiny, intentional batches. Many are available for pre-order first, because I'd rather make 20 perfect things than 2,000 mediocre ones. It's slow fashion, on purpose.
Silk & Lace Design Philosophy
There's something about wearing a limited edition piece that just feels good.
Whether it's one of 350 pairs of Nikes or a band tee made exclusively for a tour that will never happen again — the feeling is real. For some people the scarcity is the point. They want something valuable, or something that might become valuable. For others it's simpler: they never want to hear "oh my god, I have those same shoes" or "twinsies!"
We talk a lot about cookie-cutter houses. But what about cookie-cutter wardrobes?
Not flashy. Not look-at-me. Just something different. Something unmistakably yours. A style where you fit in exactly where you want to fit in, but never quite blend in.
Think about an old neighborhood full of colonial homes. Each house has its own personality — different textures, different colors, different architectural details — and yet they all belong together. None of them is trying to outshine the others. They're just distinctly themselves.
That's what we're building here, and you can be a part of it.
We design in small batches. We retire pieces to make room for something new. The number of people who can ever own what you're wearing stays small — by design, not by accident.
Your wardrobe should feel like that neighborhood. Cohesive but never identical. Yours and only yours.
How We Actually Do Business
I wanted Silk & Lace to feel different, not just in what we make, but in how we treat you while you're deciding whether to buy it.
Honesty. We've all been burned by a business that told us what we wanted to hear instead of the truth. Here, if you ask a question, you get a straight answer, not a dodge, not a script. That's not a slogan, it's just the only way I know how to run something with my own name attached to it.
Transparency. I won't tell you who's on my sewing team, that's the one thing I'll keep close, for the same reason any small shop protects its own. But everything else is fair game: where things are made, the ethics behind the factories I use, realistic timelines on Lab pieces, and yes, where AI plays a role in this business and where it doesn't. If I can tell you, I will.
No pressure, ever. I don't do countdown timers or "only 3 left!!" banners designed to make your heart race before your brain can catch up. I've been on the other side of that trick too many times, wallet pleading with me not to, and I don't want to do it to you. That's the whole idea behind the Gem system: gems you earn never expire. Not in 30 days, not in 90, not ever. Shop when you're ready, not when a fake deadline tells you to be.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, we'd love for our pieces to become a part of yours.
Warmly,
Lindsay
